Photos + Video of Smokeout 2012 – Wiz Khalifa x Curren$y x Fashawn

Here’s a few stills of what we experienced covering this years Smokeout Festival. I was a little limited in shooting this year. Aside from arriving off schedule, all I had work to work with was my 50mm prime, but I captured some decent shots. I’ll make it up at Paid Dues(lol)..Enjoy…

With well over 20,000 ppl in attendance, it felt so good to be back. My motivation is back in 6th gear and with another successful event under their belts, GU will only grow while bringing us epic events that can be covered by media, enjoyed by fans, and remembered by all for years to come.

Plan on attending Comic Con this year? San Diego’s biggest trade show convention has made some new improvements to the registration process. In an effort to improve efficiency and speed of the EPIC online registration system, CC is requiring that anyone who wishes to purchase, apply, or register for Comic-Con badge, sign-up for their own personalized “Comic-Con Member ID” which is free and available to all adult and junior (ages 13 to 17) attendees with a valid and unique e-mail address. Children may not register for a Comic-Con Member ID.

***Time is running out to reserve your personal Comic-Con Member ID! The Member ID registration system will close soon.***

Your Comic-Con Member ID will act as your “login” to the EPIC online registration system during open online registration. Your Comic-Con Member ID will also add you to our verified special member “E-List.” All year-round you’ll get official updates, important registration announcements, access to select presales, and other information about attending Comic-Con affiliated conventions and events. You may also receive e-mails from our registration partners regarding Comic-Con registration and from our hotel reservation partners regarding hotel information for Comic-Con conventions and events.
Everyone who intends to purchase, apply, or register for a Comic-Con badge must sign-up for a Comic-Con Member ID. This includes attendees, volunteers, professionals, trade professionals, and members of the press.

A Day with Murs

My weekend was filled with tons of events last week. Tons of shooting, planning, emails, text messages, phone calls and driving. After reaching out to Murs via twitter and actually getting a response, I had no idea what was ahead.

When there is an opportunity for locals to get face time amongst hip-hops best or the industries brightest, I do what I can to help and this was no different. Once I found out Murs was in town, I immediately thought of my boys @ 9Five. I told them I had an idea of bringing Murs by the offices to get him some gear and sit for lil pow wow. Of course they were stoked about the idea. After a few emails, Murs and I exchange numbers and went from there. I spent about a week and a half planning the trip to 9Five but Murs had more in mind. So me, Jon @ 9Five, and Murs setup an afterparty @ Analog last minute after the HOB show just to do it. I mean why not right?

They day of the show was among us. I left work early and linked up with Murs @ HOB and we shot down to Access Music to his instore meet-n-greet. I met Mark and Adam for the first time. Access is one those places that really makes you appreciate hip-hop. We were running behind schedule but doing 90 on the 163 & 805 has its advantages. We made it to 9Five about 45 minutes before the show where Jon Mike Jay Murs and myself sat stood and talked about the industry in a nutshell. That nutshell must have exploded cause I learned some things that I had never heard before. After that it was back to HOB and a performance that blew my mind. HoB was shut down. AB-Soul and Tab-Bonney did their thing as well. We finshed the night off @ Analog with foundation killing it. For me, it was an experience that I had never experienced before. Props to Murs, Jon, Mike, Jay, Kania, and Analog for seeing that vision and supporting the ideas I had and most of all everyone reading and supporting the Rise.

Custom Air Jordan III Inspired OLYMPUS PEN E-PL2

January 21, 2011 by socal
Filed under Art, Photos, Technology, Travel

James of Hong Kong just worked for the latest Olympus E-PL2 campaign in HK and had the assignment designing a new look for the camera. So he took inspiration from his favorite shoe? That’s right the Air Jordan III which just so happens to release tomorrow 1/22/11, was the motive behind the design. A masterpiece I must say. Here’s how it was done:

-Step One: Mask the rest of the body with masking tape
-Step Two: spray the grey paint on the grip, TAMIYA COLOR TS-81(recommended). Unmask the tapes and you can see the rest of the body is fine, so be careful and make sure you cover up the rest of the camera body well
-Step Three: after the paint dried, use some small tip pen to draw those black lines, GUNDAM MARKER GM01(recommended)
-Step Four: Just add some red GUNDAM MARKER GM07(recommended)

Fin!!!

*I would personally like to thank James for this idea. Being a professional photographer and passionate sneakerhead is a really odd combo. I’m a Nikon shooter but this Olympus E-PL2 will be added to the arsenal.

Epicenter Twenty Ten RE-CAP

October 8, 2010 by socal

This year’s Epicenter Twenty Ten was more like a center of epic proportions. After all, Epicenter only drew 50,000 music lovers during a two-day period and featured some of music’s most renowned and influential names in rock, indie, hip-hop, and alternative music. Take for example Eminem, who is arguably one of hip-hop’s dopest MC’s. With his only California show of the year, Em’s headlining performance, which featured a cameo from Detroit rap group D-12, by far drew the biggest fan base with ages ranging from 8 years old to 40. Missing out on his show was like missing out on bit of musical history. But wait! It gets worst – for the better. Kiss was also in attendance for what was their only California appearance as well to finish off Day-1 of the festival. Day 1 also included The Envy, Kinda Major, Smile Empty Soul,The Knux, Big B, House of Pain, Duece, Crash Kings, Big Boi, Papa Roach, and Bush. Bush was a really great show that stood out in our minds. With it being their first show in almost a decade, they commanded the stage and tamed the anxious crowd at their will. I personally have never experience anything like it.

We were in attendance for day one of the memorable festival where our shooters caught some pretty epic moments. So here are few flicks of Bush and Papa Roach. We will more of the recap as  we catch u on events.

We would like to thank Aaron Feterl, Marcee Rondan, Kristine Ashton-Magnuson, all the staff at Epicenter Fest for all their assistance in allowing us cover such a remarkable concert series. We are looking forward to next year.

Nikon took the already industry leading Nikon D300 and gave a face lift, adding a 12.3-megapixel to keep up with Nikon D90, an automatic Active D-Lighting, one-touch Live View, 24fps, 720p D-Movie recording with autofocus, 7 fps shooting (8 with MD-D10 battery grip), and a stereo microphone input. This should hold you over for a while if you are a DX user. Its going to run you about $1800
