With the tech industry going nutzo with the tablet releases it was only a matter of time before HTC got in on some of the quick money making. The iPad is currently 17% of Apple’s total profit. That’s kinda like a big deal. Peep the new HTC Flyer which runs on Android 2.4 and features a seven-inch touchscreen with 1024×600 resolution, a 1.5 GHz processor, 32 GB of internal storage with microSD expansion, 1GB of RAM, HSPA+/GSM cellular connectivity, a five megapixel rear camera with auto focus and a 1.3 megapixel front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, and GPS..just to name a few.lol. This I can definitely see myself buying since I am a proud owner of the HTC HD2 very smartphone…Price is TBD but I’m sure they’ll price it “competitively”…

Helping Haiti is Qee: VINYL CPH Project – Toy2R, committed to helping the people of Haiti, would like to take this opportunity to share this unique opportunity for art collectors to help.

On December 1st, The Exhibition Vinyl Cph, was held in Copenhagen at the Danish Architecture Center (DAC). The show runs through February 2nd (this coming Tuesday) and features over 30 original customized 16 inch Toyer Qee figures. More than 650 people where in attendance to view this unique take on the Toyer Qee. From painted and sculpted designs to a Toyer made out of more than fifty 2.5” Toyer Qees – each piece is an incredible work of art.

The aim of the project was to break down the borders between art and graphic design without any limitations. Vinyl Cph was curated by Jesper Elg and Soren Rose Kjaer, an ambassador for the Red Cross. Soren contacted Toy2R with the idea of donating proceeds from the sale of these pieces to support the relief efforts in Haiti. These amazing creations are now up for auction at http://vinylcph.dk/ , where 50% of the proceeds will go directly to the Danish Red Cross Organization to help Haiti. Bids will be acceptedthrough February 2nd and shipping is available through Fedex or DHL. Time is running short for a chance to own one of these pieces. With help from art collectors and designer toy fans, we can help those in need in Haiti. Go to http://vinylcph.dk/ or www.sorenrose.com now.(toy2rusa.com)

Shoutouts to Kevin for his good deeds.

"Scrumpy the Monkey" - custom Chaos Monkey

Chris Rose continues to impress us with his pieces. Along with the birth of is pieces , comes an interesting story of the inspiration behind his creations.

Backstory

The earl never had a pest problem again. Turns out Scrumpy was a pretty good gardener too. Neither the Earl, nor the 6 generations of Earls that followed, ever lost a county fruit and vegetable fair again. You just couldn’t beat those bananas.

The 63rd Earl of Winchester had a pest problem.

His private gardens had recently become the favorite scrumping grounds of the local public schoolboys. Each week they would dare each other to return with bigger and bigger hauls of fruit and tho mildly irritating, he remembered his days as a lad at Eton college and casually cast a blind eye.

Until one night, they paid particular attention to his tropical biodome, the home of the Earl’s prizewinning banana trees.

Awoken early the next morning by his driver, the scene of devastation laid out before him made him drop his monocle! They’d gone too far this time. Simply increasing security wasn’t enough for these rapscallions, they needed the fear of God struck upon them!

After a month of sleepless nights and raids that had become increasingly bold, the crate from the world famous robotics factory arrived with a custom order inside. Built to the specifications of a nightmare the Earl once had, the unit was installed in the biodome and with childlike glee, the octogenarian retired to his chamber…

Jenkins had a reputation to uphold. He wasn’t the biggest kid in school, his father wasn’t the wealthiest, but no one could climb a tree like him. Ever since he first slipped into that overblown greenhouse and returned with the golden crescents held aloft, he’d become name muttered in awe around every playground in the county. Tonight he was coming home with more nanas than anyone had ever managed and a pineapple too for good measure.

Slipping over the high walls and into the garden, he felt could do this blindfolded and soon found himself at the dome. This was easier than ever. As he approached the tree, he spotted a curiously large crate over to one side. It had a crown logo and the words “Scrumpy the Monkey” stamped on the side.

Jenkins never saw the beam as his foot swung through it, he was already on floor as the thunderous noise of the crate bursting open startled him terribly. Frozen with fear and confusion, two huge eyes glowed at him from the gloom and an almighty robotic “OOK!” boomed around the dome. Moments later he found himself hurtling towards the garden wall, grasped tightly in the FEET of a 10 foot robotic monkey of terrifying proportions. It was vaulted in a single bound as if it wasn’t even there.

The far off screams of the boys awoke the Earl. Sitting up quickly and swinging a monitor into view, the cameras mounted in Scrumpy’s eyes beamed images of lads flee faster than their legs could carry them. Dropping satchels and tripping over each other, they were desperate to escape the towering simian…!

He chuckled to himself and recalled the robot, he’d sleep well tonight.

It started as a story of a robot guard, that one night bruised a few egos. Soon it was a lunchtime legend.

“…they say there’s a giant evil monkey, owned by a crazy old man who lives on the top of a hill…”

“…he tempts boys in with banana splits, only to have that monster smell the fruit on them, chase them around for his amusement, before devouring them whole!!!…”
